High School pupils furnish garden comfort for Bayview Care Home
Residents Bayview care home in Thurso will be able to enjoy the rest of the summer in style thanks to garden furniture won for them by pupils from the local high school. The Thurso High School pupils successfully competed for £3,000 funding from the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) for the NHS Highland-run Bayview House care home earlier this year.15/8/2019

13/8/2019Archaeology Dig to start at Iron Age site in Caithness
The University of the Highlands and Islands Archaeology Institute, in partnership with the Yarrows Heritage Trust, are preparing for a fourth season of excavation at the Burn of Swartigill in Thrumster, Caithness, Scotland. Previous seasons of excavation at the site have uncovered a complex of Iron Age structures, which are providing an important window into Iron Age society away from the monumental architecture of the Brochs.13/8/2019

NHS Highland patients can wait for a year or more for a knee replacement, according to figures released to Labour MSP David Stewart under Freedom of Information. Mr Stewart, who represents the Highlands and Islands and is Scottish Labour's Shadow Health Minister, asked the health authority for the figures after two separate constituents complained that they were facing a wait of up to a year or more to get an operation.1/8/2019
