The Care Inspectorate have just published the annual report on fostering and adoption services in Scotland between 2018-19.  These services continue to perform well, with 90% of fostering services and 95% of adoption services evaluated as ‘good' or better by our inspectors.

The John O'Groats Mill Trust has won a £1,000 Movement for Good award thanks to nominations from the public.   The John O'Groats Mill Trust was nominated to win a £1,000 boost as part of specialist insurer Ecclesiastical's Movement for Good awards , which is giving £1million to charities this summer.

National Churches Trust - Foundation Grants
For the final round of 2019 (deadline 26 September) they will accept applications for works costing up to £20,000 excluding VAT, and will offer grants of up to 50% of project costs, not exceeding £10,000.   The Foundation Grant Programme is a small grants programme for maintenance to listed and unlisted Christian churches, chapels and meeting houses.

EST - Low Carbon Travel and Transport Challenge Fund
Transport Scotland's Low Carbon Travel and Transport Challenge Fund is now open for Round 3 applications.  Summary: Transport Scotland's Low Carbon Travel and Transport Challenge Fund is an opportunity for public, community and third sector organisations to apply for funding under the European Regional Development Fund 2014-2020 Programme to facilitate the delivery of active travel and low carbon transport hubs.

Spotted by crofters Stephen and Susan Cox on Thursday 25th July 2019 was a rare visitor to Roster in Caithness.   "A pink starling aka the Rosy Coloured Starling is staying on our croft." "We think it was blown in on the storm earlier in the week from the Western Isles where some were sighted last weekend."
