National Museums Scotland and National Records of Scotland have today announced, on the anniversary of Robert the Bruce's birth, that the Declaration of Arbroath will be displayed at the National Museum of Scotland next year to mark 700 years since its creation.   The document will be displayed within the Scotland galleries of the National Museum of Scotland from 27 March to 26 April 2020.

Thurso Heritage Society will host an illustrated talk and book signing with the guest speaker, author Adam Wood at the Royal British Legion, 7:30 pm Friday 19th July 2019 with a book signing, 10 am - 1 pm Saturday 20th July at Thurso Library.   The book, is the first biography about Thurso born, Donald Swanson who would begin life in humble beginnings.

A group of about a dozen volunteers have done a huge amount of work on refurbishing the playpark equipment at Green Road, Wick.   Old equipment was repaired and everything got a lick of paint.

Schools in the UK could be in with the chance of winning £1,000 by entering the annual Kellogg's Breakfast Club Awards.   One club from each region of the England, as well as one club from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, could be crowned the best breakfast club of the year and bag a cash prize.

Operations had to be cancelled across NHS Highland because hospitals simply could not cope, new figures reveal.   Data published by ISD Scotland shows that 45 operations were cancelled in May 2019 due to non-clinical reasons such as not having enough staff or unclean equipment.

Fall for tenth consecutive year.   Teenage pregnancies in Scotland are at the lowest level since 1994, according to the latest statistics.

Life chances of adopted children undermined by battle for government support
Adoption UK calls for radical changes to adoption support in first ever UK-wide assessment of adoption.   Adoption UK this week published The Adoption Barometer revealing that adopted children in Scotland are more than twice as likely not to be in employment, education or training (NEET) as their peers, 31% of them have had contact with the criminal justice system and 41% have needed help from mental health services.

The Highland Council will fly the Rainbow Flag, the symbol of the LBGT+ rights movement, in Inverness during the weekend of 20 and 21 July to show support for Proud Ness 2019.   Convenor of the Highland Council, Cllr Bill Lobban said:"Last October, thousands of people from the LGBT+ community, their family and friends and members of the wider community, turned up to march through Inverness with a clear message that the Highlands is an inclusive place where we promote fairness and welcome diversity.

Mikie Aitken , Quality Control Inspector for Subsea7 Wester Site ,recently won a thousand pounds for a safety award while working on the Equinor Snorre project to be given to a charity of his choice.   He chose to donate to Caithness Health Action Team 100mile helper kits which are given to Caithness General Hospital , Community Maternity Unit who give the kits to local women that have to be quickly transferred to Raigmore maternity hospital in an emergency situation.

New national public health body 'Public Health Scotland': consultation - Let's Get Some Caithness Views into this
This consultation document invites views on the proposals for a new national public health body in Scotland, to be known as ‘Public Health Scotland'.   In June 2018, this Government and COSLA set out Scotland's public health priorities which represented agreement between the Scottish Government and Local Government about the importance of focusing our efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of the population.
