New Health And Social Care Hub Wick - Still Dates To Visit The Popup Information Shop

4th October 2019

NHS Highland plans to rent a temporary pop up shop to update local residents about proposals for its primary health and social care hub for Wick at the end of this month.

During the Caithness Health and Social Care consultation last year, the board found the temporary ‘High Street Presence' approach proved an effective way to engage with people about the redesign plans.

The former Graham Begg shop on Whitechapel Road will again be used to update local residents through the use of displays and information materials and one-to-one discussions with NHS Highland staff.

Christian Nicolson, NHS Highland's Quality Improvement Lead for the North & West, said: "The pop up shop proved to be a great way to engage with local residents during the consultation last year and we hope it will again give us the opportunity to update everyone about the sites chosen for the Wick Hub."

The manned pop up shop will be open from 10:00am until 4:00pm on the following days: Monday 30th September; Wednesday 2nd October; Friday 4th October; Tuesday 8th October and Thursday 10th October 2019.

It will also be open from 11:00am until 3:00pm on Saturday 12th October 2019.

Posters and information leaflets about the options update will also be available in Caithness General Hospital during the two week period.

The proposed £30m plus redesign of health and social care services in Caithness was given the go-ahead by Scotland’s Health Secretary Jeane Freeman earlier this year.

In May the Health Secretary backed plans for the creation of two care hubs in Wick and Thurso (the latter using the Dunbar Hospital as the designated site) and investment in Caithness General Hospital as part of a wider redesign across the county.
