North Highland College UHI celebrates diamond year

North Highland College UHI celebrates a milestone this year with 60 years in education.
North Highland College UHI first opened in 1959 as Thurso Technical College to serve the training needs for Dounreay. Since then the college has become part of the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) and are one of 13 academic partners that make up the university.
North Highland College UHI has seen many changes over the years with the curriculum and geographic coverage expanding significantly. The college offers full time and part time courses, from engineering, game keeping, business and health and social care, with many courses available for online study.
The college has developed and expanded the original campus in Thurso over the years with the development of House of Morven, ETEC (Engineering, Technology and Energy Centre) and the Environmental Research Institute (ERI). The college also has campuses in Halkirk, Dornoch and Alness.

High Schools Compete In Rocket Car Competition
Over 140 pupils from Thurso High School, Wick High School, Golspie High School and Tain Royal Academy descended upon North Highland College UHI's ETEC building last week to take part in The Bloodhound Project Model Rocket Car Challenge. This is a global competition backed by Guinness World Records.
College Students ‘Champion’ Barclays Money Skills Week
Students at North Highland College UHI enjoyed a series of activities to learn how to better manage their money during Barclays Money Skills Week. The interactive events covered themes such as budgeting, saving and spending, and were designed to be entertaining and informative.
SPRING SHOW ATTRACTS EQUINE ENTHUSIASTS FROM FAR AND WIDE 
Last weekend was the North Highland College Equestrian Centre Spring Show which attracted entries from all over Caithness, Sutherland and Inverness. Judges Fiona Cameron, Melrose & Kimberley Nicoll, Ayrshire were both extremely impressed with both the standard of horses & ponies and the riders.
Ready Steady Work For Senior Pupils - Book Early
In 2013 DSRL held a week-long pilot course called Ready Steady Work to help senior pupils in Caithness and North Sutherland prepare themselves for work. Following positive feedback, DSRL now proposes to hold this event again in 2014 offering the option of two different weeks.
