Message From Thurso Players.   Due to the weather/Health and Safety reasons, the Thurso High School is shut today which means that unfortunately tonight's performance of the Thurso Players pantomime has had to be cancelled.

Deadline for Your Cash Your Caithness applications approaches
Local groups in Caithness are reminded that the closing date for Your Cash Your Caithness applications is drawing near and to be in with a chance of receiving a share of £15,000 forms need to be received by 5.00pm on Sunday 3rd December Caithness Members of The Highland Council have set aside £15,000.00 from their Ward Discretionary Budget to let the local community decide for themselves which projects are needed in their area.  If your idea fits, the community will get to vote for the best ideas at an event in Thurso High School on Saturday 27th January 2018.

Participatory Budgeting Steps Up
The announcement from COSLA that 1% of local authority spending is to be allocated through some kind of Participatory Budgeting process heralds a step change in terms of the scale of ambition for this method of allocating public funds - 1% equates to roughly £100m.   To date, it's probably fair to say that most activity has centred on the allocation of relatively small pots of funding to local projects.
