On 19th and 20th January Caithness Horizons will be launching a new initiative called "Peter's Pals" a Young Curators Club for children aged between 8 and 12 years old.   Led by “Peter” the Museum’s mascot who is a Little Penguin (scientific name: Eudyptula minor) and the Museum Curator “Peter’s Pal’s” will meet regularly (once a month apart from at Christmas and during the summer holidays) to investigate the Museum Collection; participate in workshops to learn new skills relating to the Museum’s Collection.

A campaign encouraging women to ‘Drop a Glass Size’ in 2013 has been launched today by Health Secretary Alex Neil.   As part of the campaign, which also includes a national roadshow, a new ‘drinking mirror’ smart phone app has been developed to show people the shocking affects of regularly drinking too much.

FIRSTPORT: FUNDING FOR SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURS Firstport, which supports new and emerging social entrepreneurs across Scotland, has announced that its Level 2 Social Entrepreneurship Fund is open for applications.   Level 2 grants of up to £20,000 are available to individuals and small groups of individuals with a tested and proven social enterprise idea that have a successful trading track record of about 12 months.
