Leaving a Legacy to the Laurandy Day Care Centre Since the Laurandy Day Care Centre first opened many people and their families have benefited from the services of the centre. It is a centre available to the needs of the elderly in our community, and is here to help people in need of daily activities and to offer respite for carers.31/12/2018
Caithness Access Panel Report
Caithness Access panel meets monthly In the Pulteney Centre in Wick on the last Wednesday of the month between 12 - 2pm. We are all volunteers and have a membership of over 20 who attend and also through our petition over 200 supporters of the group's aims.27/12/2018

On 11 November 2018, 100 years since Armistice, bells will ring out in unison from churches and cathedrals in villages, towns and cities across the country. As part of "Her Majesty's Government" ambition for Bells to ring out at 12.30pm on the 11th of November, to commemorate the centenary of the Armistice, which signalled the end of the First World War, a team of some of the Poltney Bell Ringers will join the congregation of St John's Scottish Episcopal Church, Moray Street, Wick on Sunday 11th November 2018.7/9/2018

Saving Critically Endangered birds in Bangladesh - ERI Talks
We are delighted to invite you to our next external seminar, being held on Thursday 23rd August. Environmental Research Institute (ERI), Thurso have two speakers, Alam Sarawar and Sayam Chowdhury who will be talking about "Saving Critically Endangered birds in Bangladesh." The presentation will be held in the ERI seminar room, Castle Street in Thurso - doors open at 5.15pm.

Budget Cuts Hit Caithness Voluntary Group and All Highland Third Sector
Budget cuts are now hitting the voluntary third sector in Caithness and the rest of Highland. Caithness Voluntary Group is member of the Highland Third Sector Interface (HTSI) and they have been informed of a 13% cut in funding.

Gift for Guest Speaker Councillor Nicola Sinclair
Guest speaker at a recent Caithness Heart support Group AGM was local Highland councillor Nicola Sinclair who gave a thought-provoking address about health services in Caithness and the challenges facing them and the NHS. Cllr Sinclair is well placed to speak to groups about health service having been a founder member of Caithness Health Action Team (CHAT) and still involved in the campaigns over Caithness health issues.

Ernie Ross Stands Down As Chair of Caithness Heart support Group
A TRIBUTE was paid at the AGM of Caithness Heart Support Group, recently, to long-serving chairman Ernie Ross, standing down after nine years service. Highlighting Mr Ross's contribution, the new chairman, Noel Donaldson said: "Ernie has not always enjoyed the best of health but has always given us a one hundred percent commitment to the group and that has been greatly appreciated." However, Mr Donaldson was pleased to add that Mr Ross was not severing his connection with the group but has decided to remain as a committee member.

Wick oral history project has 100,000 reasons to celebrate
Wick Voices, the Wick Society's oral history section, has broken through the 100,000 barrier in terms of listener response to its collection of online recordings. That's how many individual plays there have been since the project was set up less than two years ago with the aim of preserving local voices for posterity.

High Life Highland recognised top performing volunteers last Thursday at its annual award ceremony held at Strathpeffer Pavilion. The event saw volunteers from across the Highlands recognised for significant contributions to the charity, its clients and customers.
