Towhead Moves Slowly Through Wick
One of the latest towheads to pass through the town again attracted considerable interest. It successfully negotiated the turns from Scalesburn into Willowbank, though not with a little manoevuring but was held up while turning into Henrietta Street was held up by a lamp standard light.10/3/2016
Under the Microscope activities and When I grow up exhibition
St Fergus Gallery and the Science 03 are delighted to invite you and your friends to visit the gallery to use a microscope to get a closer look at various objects and project the images onto a big wall. There will be a good selection of objects you can use but feel free to bring some of your own - be it feathers, sea shells or even a wing of a butterfly.10/3/2016
Local Museum is new collection point for Food Bank
Residents of Caithness can now drop donations to the local food bank into Caithness Horizons Museum in Thurso. Canned, dried and tinned food products can be submitted to Caithness Horizons reception team who are working with the Highland Foodbank volunteers.10/3/2016

Last Chance for Community Groups in the Scottish Highlands to Enter Awards
Time is running out for community projects in the Scottish Highlands to enter Clydesdale Bank's Spirit of the Community Awards 2016 for a chance to share a funding boost of £75,000 to make a real difference in their local area. Now in its fourth year, the awards programme was launched earlier this year to recognise and support community projects which are going the extra mile.8/3/2016
Highland Council primary schools to compete in Scotland-wide Euroquiz
Primary 6 pupils from schools in Highland Council will compete in the local heats of a Scotland-wide quiz on Europe on Wednesday 9 March 2016 which has been organised by the award-winning Scottish European Educational Trust, with the support of the European Parliament Office in the UK. Thirty three schools will take part in the Highland Council heat, which will take place on 9 March at Dingwall Academy, with pupils arriving from 10am for a 10.30am start.8/3/2016

Bird haven benefits from work of volunteers
Members of the Caithness Countryside Volunteers have been busy carrying out maintenance work around the bird haven at St Johns pool near Dunnet in Caithness. While some of the group cut back encroaching trees from the car park area and path others weeded an area in front of the main hide.7/3/2016
Two Groups Receive Cheques
TWO Caithness charities have benefitted from a sponsored village fireworks and bonfire fundraiser. Macmillan Cancer Support and Caithness Heart Support Group each received £250 at a double presentation ceremony in Watten recently.6/3/2016

Council Celebrates Earth Hour Award
Ahead of WWFs annual Earth Hour on Saturday 19 March 2016, The Highland Council is again celebrating after being awarded WWF Scotlands Earth Hour Local Authority Runner-up Award for its contribution to the success of Earth Hour in 2015. Some of the Highlands best known landmarks, including Inverness and Eilean Donan Castles, joined the likes of the Eiffel Tower and Sydney Opera House in switching off for an hour last March.20/2/2016
A nation of listeners but no one wants to talk
While most of us like to think we are good listeners, we keep quiet about our own problems, statistics released by Samaritans today show. Nearly two-thirds (65%) of people in Scotland believe they are good listeners, but only a little over a quarter (27%) feel they can talk when somethings on their mind.17/2/2016
