Improved safety measures for Miller Academy pupils
Member of the Caithness Area Committee have given the go-ahead to a project to improve the safety of pupils walking and cycling to and from Miller Academy in Thurso.   £20,000 will be spent creating a footpath and installing a barrier with linings on the ground to make the usage of the drop off area at the school safer for pupils.

WASPI Continues The State Pension Fight For Women - Check This Out
The Caithness WASPI group are keen to reach out to more 1950s women who are unsure of when they will get their State Pension and how much they will receive.   They also want to update people on what's happening with the WASPI campaign which is very exciting! WASPI have raised over £100K to appoint top London law firm Bindmans to help challenge the Government on this important issue.

Theft - Wick Food Bank
Police in Wick are carrying out enquiries following a break-in and theft at the charity food bank on Lower Dunbar Street.   Between 4pm on Sunday 22nd January and 12:15pm yesterday (24th January) entry was forced to the premises and various food items removed.

Recommendations on enhancing maternity and neonatal care.  Every woman will have continuity of care from a primary midwife, who will provide the majority of their antenatal, childbirth and postnatal care, as part of a new model of care for maternity services in Scotland.

HITRANS, the regional transport partnership for the Highlands and Islands, has introduced a quick and easy way for those with a disability to get help when using public transport, particularly buses.   They have widely circulated a new Thistle Assistance Card which the holder can use to advise the bus driver/public transport operator of any special help that is required.

THE war memorial in the royal burgh of Wick has been disrespected by vandals It would probably have taken two of them, one standing on the other's shoulders to reach the top of the statue's base and place the traffic cone on the top of the head.   It will certainly require a ladder or a long pole to remove it.
