Scotlands People Hub opens at Inverness
The eagerly-awaited access to ScotlandsPeople Hub for the public to search the birth, death and marriage records unassisted has finally come on-stream in Inverness. The recent addition to the services provided at the Highland Archive and Registration Centre, Bught Road, Inverness also provides access on-line to valuation rolls with the facility to search by street, wills and testaments and Catholic records for all of Scotland.

Nursery children at Bower Busy Bees are thoroughly enjoying the recent revamp of their outdoor play area. The Highland Council Community Payback, under the management of Rodney Brass, painted the wooden fence, furniture and play equipment within the nursery garden ready for the children returning from the school holidays.

Pentland Model Boat Club Members Win Prizes
Members of the Pentland Model Boat Club based in Thurso were away to Coatbridge last weekend for the annual regatta of the Scottish Federation of Boat Clubs. The regatta this year was held in Summerlea Museum.
Wick Sea Cadets Inspection
Wick Sea Cadets were well turned out for their inspection that takes place every two years. Captain Peter Adams carried out the inspection and spoke to each cadet individually.

This article was first published in the Caithness Field Club bulletin 2011 The Little Bunting that was seen at the end of 2009 stayed at Ham throughout the winter, eventually leaving in early April after 110 days, which may well be a record for Britain. Another unusual winter visitor for Caithness was Great-Crested Grebe, with birds seen in January on Loch Watten (2), and a single bird in Thurso.29/5/2013
