MSP determined to help in the fight to save Highlands and Islands charity - Third sector groups await decision on funding
Highlands and Islands Labour MSP, Rhoda Grant, has tabled a motion for debate in the Scottish Parliament in a bid to save a local charity, Sight Action, as NHS Highland make funding cuts and re-design services for the blind and visually impaired. It was indicated to Mrs Grant at the end of last year that Sight Action's valuable services to almost 3,000 blind or visually impaired adults and children will no longer continue past the 31st March 2020.17/2/2020

Caithness public to decide funding for local projects

Following the call by The Highland Council for local groups in Caithness to apply for a share of £10,000 to fund projects in their local area, members of the public are now being invited to take part in the Your Cash Your Caithness event on Saturday 29th February to decide how the money will be distributed.7/2/2020

New Energy Efficiency Programme in Highland
The Scottish Government has awarded The Highland Council funding to deliver area based energy efficiency programmes in the Highlands. The area based programmes aim to: Target fuel-poor areas Offer insulation measures, such as External Wall Insulation (EWI), Cavity and Loft Insulation The Scottish Government grant, in conjunction with Energy Company Obligation (ECO) funding, and a homeowner contribution will help owner occupiers and privately rented properties to improve the energy efficiency within their home.30/1/2020

As some of you might be aware the level and extent of funding by NHS Highland to third sector organisations has been under review for quite some time. In a couple of weeks David Park the chief officer of NHSH is coming up to Caithness to have a short meeting with some of the current organisations who do receive funding and hopefully explain how the review is going.30/1/2020
