New Bird Boxes Built At Seadrift Centre
The Caithness Countryside Volunteers spent last Sunday morning building bird boxes at their last event of the year. A total of 14 standard bird boxes were built at Seadrift, The Highland Councils wildlife centre at Dunnet Bay.10/12/2012
More Drink Drivers Than Ever Caught
Head of Northern Constabulary�s Road Policing Unit has expressed disappointment at the 13 drivers who chose to put their own and the lives of others at risk by drink driving despite numerous warnings. The 13 were detected by Police during week one of the 2012/13 ACPOS Festive Safety Campaign, which focuses primarily on drink and drug driving.10/12/2012
Assistance to Communities as part of Council�s winter resilience campaign
The Highland Council has written to all community councils to let them know that assistance will be available to any communities who wish to help clear snow and ice from local footpaths. Following bad weather last winter a number of Community Councils approached the council to enquire about taking action in their own areas to clear snow and ice from footpaths as and when needed.10/12/2012

Whyte Sisters From Caithness Complete Lejog
CAITHNESS sisters Seren Whyte 23 and Elise Whyte 21 have completed the LeJog Land�s End to John O� Groats classic car reliability challenge, in their Mini Cooper. They were among the first arrivals to complete the popular route and met up, today, with other drivers who stopped off at Wick's former Haldanes car park where their cars were driven onto low-loaders for the return journey south.4/12/2012

The Highland Council awarded �24,000 to trial new project to prevent littering in the Highlands. A new project led by The Highland Council to prevent littering around 10 secondary schools in the Highlands is set to take place thanks to funding awarded by Zero Waste Scotland, the Scottish Government-backed body set up to help Scotland reduce waste, recycle more, and use resources sustainably.3/12/2012
