Coastal deaths: RNLI says ‘fight your instincts, not the water' to help stay alive
New research1 commissioned by the RNLI has revealed that six in ten people (61%) in Scotland would follow a potentially life-threatening instinct if they fell unexpectedly into water. The RNLI is now calling on the public to fight their instincts and remember one simple skill - floating - that could save lives from drowning.28/5/2017

Highland Council pays respect to lives lost in Manchester - Miller Academy
There was a 1 minute silence at 11am today at all Highland Council premises in tribute to the victims of the Manchester bomb attack. At the Council's headquarters on Glenurquhart Road, Inverness, staff joined Convener of The Highland Council, Cllr Bill Lobban and Members to observe the silence.21/5/2017

The Duncraig Educational Trust Scheme can provide financial assistance to young Highland people who meet the essential criteria for the scheme. The FCC Scottish Action Fund offers funding of between £2,000 and £50,000 to projects from FCC Environment through the Scottish Landfill Communities Fund. Local Authorities, charities, parish councils, church or community organisations and voluntary groups can apply for funding of between £2,000 and £50,000 for land reclamation works; community recycling projects; the provision of public amenities and parks; biodiversity projects; and the maintenance or restoration of historic buildings.16/5/2017
