Scotland's Baby Box available nationwide
All babies in Scotland due from today (15 August 2017) will be gifted a box full of essential items aimed at tackling inequality and promoting health. The boxes are a strong signal of the Scottish Government's determination that every child, regardless of their circumstances should get the best start in life.

Gold Panning Day With Rangers - You Never Know What You Can Find
The gravels and sediments of the Kildonan Burn are salted with small concentrations of gold in the form of tiny granular flecks, and the very occasional little nuggets sometimes combined with quartz. The Helmsdale river valley offers a sheltered and pleasant route to the banks of the Kildonan Burn, signposted as Baile-An-0r, the Gaelic translation of Town of gold.

Back to school with award winning meals
Highland Parents are being urged to ditch the packed lunch and give their children great Food for Life Highland Council has achieved the Soil Association's Silver and Bronze Food for Life Served Here award for serving fresh and healthy meals in Highland schools and nurseries. The Silver award schools and nurseries are Cradlehall, Drakies, Holm, Lochaline, Rosebank and Smithton while all other schools and nurseries have the Bronze Award.
