Highland Council takes enforcement action on dog fouling
The first two weeks of September saw Highland Council staff stepping up action on dog fouling in response to the Keep Scotland Beautiful annual ‘Ditch the Dirt' campaign. During the fortnight Council employees were out and about talking to dog owners and other members of the public about dog fouling in Caithness, Ross-shire, Inverness and Lochaber.29/9/2014

What's On at Caithness Horizons: October 2014 Cafe Exhibitions Peter's Pals ARTIST ROOMS: Douglas Gordon workshop exhibition 8th September - 8th October 2014 Work produced by our Young Curators Club during an art workshop based on the ARTIST ROOMS: Douglas Gordon exhibition will be on display in the cafe and cafe corridor from 8th September. The workshop was led by professional artist Lucy Harrison and took place over three afternoons in July.28/9/2014
Highland's new Youth Convener
Shaun Finlayson from Avoch took up the role of Highland Youth Convener in September 2014. This full time role, based at the High Life Highland office in Ardross Street, Inverness, is a bursary position running to the end of August 2015.

Highland Archaeology Festival Begins 27 September 2014
Caithness Events Saturday 4th October 2014 - 11.00am - 2.00pm Loch of Yarrows to Whaligoe A walk through history in classic Caithness landscape. The route is peppered with archaeological sites spanning several thousands years: burial cairns, broch, a hill fort, and ending at Whaligoe Harbour.

Charity tree planting at The Highland Council
Russell Ball, a charity cyclist, stopped off in Inverness on Tuesday 25 September, as part of his 1,000-mile ride from Land's End to John O'Groats, to plant a tree in the grounds of The Highland Council’s headquarters in Inverness. A copper beech tree was planted by Russell with support from The Highland Council’s Convener Jimmy Gray and the Development and Infrastructure Service’s Forestry team.

Local museums lead the way
Over the coming months staff and volunteers from museums across Highland and Moray will be taking part in a series of professional development workshops covering all aspects of collections management. The diverse programme ranges from documentation, conservation, archaeological finds to making the most of retail opportunities and working with schools.25/9/2014

A Caithness family are urging people to give support to a fundraising event
Both of Janet and Calum Macleod's sons are set to undergo life-saving bone marrow transplants. Their two little boys - Arran (4) and Euan (6) - suffer from chronic granulomatous disorder (CDG) and have been helped by the Anthony Nolan Trust so have organised a ceilidh, auction and supper in Wick on September 27, to benefit the UK stem cell register.

Big Band bash was Strictly for music lovers and dancers
Caithness Heart Support Group's Big Band Bash proved a hit with locals. Patrons who turned up at the Norseman Hotel, on Saturday night were treated to a swinging programme of nostalgic numbers in melody and song for listening and dancing to.

Police appeal for information following damage to a building at Thurso High School
Between 1900hrs on Tuesday 16 September and 0745hrs Wednesday 17 September 2014 a glass door panel at the rear of Thurso High School extension block was damaged.
