People in the Highlands are being urged to consider fostering or adopting during National Adoption Week this week (3 - 9 November 2014).   Highland Council's Fostering and Adoption service need permanent families for children with special needs, disability, older children and sibling groups, to help keep brothers and sisters together.

Police in Caithness appeal for information following reported theft in Brough

Pupils, parents and carers are being asked to make their views known on Highland Council's schools meals service.   The Council's Care and Learning Service are carrying out an online survey to gather the views of primary and secondary pupils who eat school meals and parents that pay for the meals.

Police Looking For Information On Padlock Removal at Rosehall Windfarm, Sutherland
Police Scotland are looking for information regarding the removal of padlock and chain for the second time.   Between 18:00 hours on Thursday 23 October 2014 and 08:45 hours on Friday 24 October 2014 a padlock and chain were removed from the front gates at the Rosehall Windfarm, Rosehall, Sutherland.

UPDATE 31 October 2014 New dates announced for ghostly gatherings The Highland Council has announced announce details of new dates for their Homecoming Halloween Shows at Ness Islands which were cancelled earlier this week due to flooding.   After 72 hours of intense activity to secure the services of over 200 performers, lighting specialists and event staff; the Council can now confirm that shows will take place on the evenings of Friday 28 at 7pm and Saturday 29 November at the earlier time of 5pm.

Police in Caithness are appealing for information in relation to a number of Sitka spruce trees that were cut down within a private dwelling in the Brough area.  A Sitka spruce is evergreen and is similar to a Christmas tree.

"MY HEART'S IN THE HIGHLANDS" EVENTSThumbnail for article :
The story of a medieval Moray abbey, Macphersons in World War I, and the things which people took with them when they left the Highlands are all themes of "My heart's in the Highlands" events in the Highland and Moray Council areas over the next few weeks.   Kinloss Abbey, the Clan Macpherson Museum in Newtonmore, Grantown Museum, Strathnaver Museum in Bettyhill, and libraries in Dingwall, Fort William and Wick are all venues for events focusing on Highland history and culture as part of Homecoming 2014.
