Wick Councilor Gail Ross Announces Her id To Be Nominated By Her Party For MSP
Wick councillor Gail Ross has announced her bid to be nominated by the Scottish National Party to represent Caithness, Sutherland and Ross following Rob Gibson who will stand down from next May. There will be other nominations up for selection and no doubt some seasoned campaigners for the SNP among them.6/6/2015
Grant Funding For Energy Efficiency and Carbon Reduction
Got an idea for a local project that will help to promote energy efficiency and carbon reduction? Apply to the Carbon CLEVER Community Grant Fund and you could receive funding to help make this a reality: benefiting the environment and your local community! Deadlines for applications vary depending on which area you live in: Skye, Ross & Cromarty - 24th June Lochaber - 14th July City of Inverness - 30th July Caithness & Sutherland - 5th August Nairn, Badenoch & Strathspey - 12th August A total of £200,000 is available in the 2015/16 financial period to fund community Carbon CLEVER projects. As a capital grant fund, projects will only be eligible for funding if they concern the acquisition or creation of a new asset, or the enhancement of existing assets.6/6/2015

Police Scotland have received a number of reports of the use of mini-moto's, motor cycles and quad bikes on the moors at Thurso and other location throughout Caithness. Police would like to remind users that using vehicles on land without the landowner’s permission is a criminal offence.31/5/2015
Police Appeal For Information Regarding Damage To Car On Bridge Street, Wick
Police are appealing for information following a red vehicle sustaining minor damage on Bridge Street in Wick which has occurred between 12pm and 1pm on Saturday 30th May 2015. It is believed the driver of a vehicle which may have caused the damage may have been unaware of this happening.29/5/2015
Caithness Heart Support Group Praised At 2015 AGM
CAITHNESS Heart Support Group was praised for its role in advising people on the lifestyle changes which could pre-empt heart attacks, as well as supporting them, before and after their operations. The warm tribute, paid at the group's AGM, came from the county's Lord Lieutenant Anne Dunnett.24/5/2015

Castletown Heritage Society Goes Back to the Bronze Age
Castletown Heritage Society (CHS) will launch their new community archaeology project THURSDAY 4TH JUNE 2015, 7.30PM, CASTLEHILL HERITAGE CENTRE, HARBOUR ROAD, CASTLETOWN, CAITHNESS KW14 8TG. The launch event will see archaeologists from AOC Archaeology Group introducing the background to the project and giving an overview of what we currently know about Bronze Age Caithness, as well as outlining all of the opportunities for participation throughout the summer.21/5/2015
Children's' safety is paramount in ‘Stranger Smart’ project
Young people and children in the Highlands can learn how to stay safe going to and from school thanks to a new project "Stranger Smart" launched today (20 May 2015) by Police Scotland and The Highland Council in Inverness. The overarching aim of the new initiative which was revealed at the Council's Education, Children and Adult Services Committee is to ensure that children, young people, parents, carers, teachers and Police are all working together to ensure that children know how to stay safe if approached by strangers.21/5/2015

Wick To Stornoway Aircraft Incident
A report was received on Sunday 17th May 2015 by Stornoway Police of a Twin Engine Cessna with 2 persons on board travelling from Wick to Iceland having difficulty with one engine. Members of Police Scotland, Scottish Fire North from Stornoway and Shawbost, Stornoway Coastguard, and Scottish Ambulance and RNLI all attended at Stornoway airport to assist members of the HIAL Fire and Rescue team.16/5/2015
