Salvation Army Hall, Thurso - Window Smashed
Police in Thurso are investigating a vandalism to the Salvation Army Hall at the Esplanade, Thurso. A window was smashed there some time between 5.00pm on Monday 2nd November 2015 and 12.30pm on Tuesday 3rd November 2015.1/11/2015
Telling tales in an entertaining way
MOST of us enjoy a good story and here's an opportunity to hear a few of them. Caithness Heart Support Group's latest speaker is Eric Farquhar who will be delivering a selection of fascinating tales at the Norseman Hotel, Wick on Wednesday night - 4th November 2015 Group press officer Noel Donaldson said: "Eric has a great way of delivering these stories and I am sure it will be an entertaining evening." Nomadic Boulders Launched At John O'Groats
In atmospheric evening the new art work that looks set to become one of the most photographed items in Scotland was launched as the sun went down on Saturday 31st October 2015. The sculpture representing waves and carrying specimen boulders millions of which have passed through the Pentland Firth for millions of years was officially opened by Lord Lieutenant Anne Dunnet whose great granfather built the iconic hotel with the hexagonal part now restored by Natural Retreats.24/10/2015
New ECG Machine Presented By Caithness Heart Support Group
THE Town and County Hospital's Newton Wing, at Wick, now has an ECG facility which will enable patients to have their hearts checked on-the-spot, without having to visit the town's Caithness General Hospital. The hi-tech box was funded by Caithness Heart Support Group and handed over, recently.22/10/2015

CHARITY BALL BRINGS ‘BOND' FEVER TO CAITHNESS
A Bond themed charity ball taking place in Wick this November is set to raise hundred of pounds for local causes. The event at Mackays Hotel on 7th November has been arranged to mark the launch of the latest Bond movie 'Spectre' and will see all monies raised going to SiMBA (Simpson's Memory Box Appeal), Wick RNLI and Caithness and Sutherland Women's Aid.20/10/2015

New group to explore ways to reduce reliance on foodbanks.
The scourge of food poverty and possible solutions to Scotland's increasing reliance on foodbanks will be investigated by a new group. Representatives from poverty organisations and charities will convene on Monday for the first meeting of the short life working group, to identify the issues which push people into food poverty and discuss how they can be addressed.18/10/2015

Additional graduates for nurseries in most deprived areas
Every nursery in Scotland's most deprived areas will have an additional qualified childcare graduate to work with children by 2018, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has announced. The new approach will begin now and will see 25,000 children benefit from more face to face time with graduates, helping them reach their full potential whatever their background.18/10/2015
