Turbines For Lochend Wind Farm Unloaded At Wick Harbour
The four turbines bound for Lochend Wind Farm at Barrock, Caithness have been unloaded at Wick Harbour awaiting transportation. Lochend Wind Farm comprises 4 x 2300Kw Wind Turbines With A Height To Tip Of 99.5M, Height Hub Of 64M, Rotor Diameter Of 71M.

Cattle Aberdeen-Angus: Champion - B and J Mackay, of Skitten, Wick, with Balmachie Roderick, a thee-year-old bull sired by Balmachie Benvorlick. Beef Shorthorn: J Campbell and Co, of Todholes, Thurso, with Ballylinney Daisy, a 17-month-old daughter of Podehole Edward.

PIPE BAND WEEK DRAWS TO A DAMP CLOSE
Wick's Pipe Band Week finished on a rather damp note on Saturday. Rain had threatened all day and finally came around teatime and continued relentlessly.

Latheron Show 2016
For a second year the Latheron Show was mostly held in Lybster with the horse over at Halkirk. The field usually used was too wet and it was decided to move to Lybster where events took place using the hall, bowling club and golf course..

Mini Kelpies come to Inverness Campus - Enter The Selfie Competition
Inverness Campus is to become home to the Kelpies maquettes as part of their world tour helping to promote Scotland as a visitor destination. The Kelpie maquettes are 1:10 scale models of the world famous Kelpies sculpture - two 100 foot high horses' heads situated in Falkirk, and will be at Inverness Campus from Thursday 7th to Saturday 23rd July.

Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) is inviting views on plans to protect some of our most important coastal areas for marine birds. A public consultation launched today (Monday) by SNH on behalf of Scottish Government is asking people to comment on a suite of proposed Special Protection Areas (pSPAs).

Scotlands butterfly population shows winners and losers
Scotland's butterfly population continues to have winners and losers in the face of climate change and habitat loss, the latest Scottish Biodiversity Indicator has reported. The majority of Scottish butterflies can be conveniently classed as ‘specialists' or ‘generalists.' Scotland's specialist butterflies have declined by 67% since 1979.
