Bumper Cheque For Caithness Heart Support Group

BIG CHEQUE and a sizeable amount to match...that's the sum total of a charity cycling challenge undertaken by Wick riders Arthur Robertson (left) and Willie Macdonald, recently.   The enterprising pair clocked up some 78 miles circling the county in demanding weather conditions, to raise a impressive £2,500 for Caithness Heart Support Group.  

Big Band Bash Could Boost Heart Group's Funds

THE popular Caithness Big Band returns to Wick's Norseman Hotel, later this month, for a charity bash in aid of the Caithness Heart Support Group.   It's one of the group's biggest fundraisers and tickets both for the event, on September 13, and raffle, are available.

Caithness Heart Support Group - Presentation 2

Caithness Heart Support Group made a double presentation of equipment at the Wick Medical Centre, recently.   The second presentation which will be used jointly by both the Riverview and the Dr Pearson practices, was the latest Doppler machine which measures the circulation in limbs and, unlike the one currently employed, can be used without an initial, patient-rest period of 20 minutes and provide a series of readings immediately.

Home Start Caithness were presented with a Volunteer Friendly Award at a gathering in Thurso recently.   Lord Lieutenant of Caithness, Anne Dunnet presented the award to Home-Start Caithness staff, Rachel & Dorothy and Linda who is one of the volunteers that visit families..

Commitment deserves commitment are the latest watchwords from SSAFA a charity set up to help serving memebrs or ex memebrs of the armed forces in the UK.   Local Caithness organiser Sharon Johns from Murkle is looking for volunteers to help her provide support to local members or ex-members of the armed forces in Caithness.

Young Mums Groups Ready For Demo

A variety of groups that involve young mothers is likely to arrive with pushchairs and prams on Monday.   Several groups from around Caithness intend to be represented at the Noon Demonstration with several intending to attend both the noon and 6:00pm demos.
