Waverley Care are running a Rapid Testing clinic in Wick on 3rd May 2016 in the evening.   They are the only organisation funded to provide this service in the Highlands.

Presenter, actor and brand new driver, Joe Swash, has joined forces with Green Flag and gone on a scenic tour of Scotland as we head into spring National breakdown cover provider Green Flag is kicking off spring with an exciting new video series starring ex-Eastender and recently qualified driver Joe Swash.  The series, called the Scenic Route, will be running throughout summer, featuring some of the countrys best-known faces, to fuel inspiration for great adventures in the UK and Europe and celebrate the freedom of drivers taking the road less travelled.  

North Coast 500 Wildlife Festival 2016

The Highland Council Countryside Rangers will be presenting a wide range of events in this years North Coast 500 Wildlife Festival which will focus on the wildlife, heritage, history and nature travellers on the iconic route can spot.   The Rangers have joined with a host of other organisations including North West Highlands Geopark, Scottish Natural Heritage, John Muir Trust, the RSPB, Flow to the Future, Caithness Wildlife Tours, Coigach and Assynt Living Landscape and the Bumblebee Conservation Trust to develop a fantastic programme of guided walks and other events for people of all ages to enjoy.

Health project Branching Out uses the great outdoors as a medicine

A green space on referrals project has been offered to patients in the far north to improve their health this winter.   A hardy group of NHS staff and eight patients visited Dunnet forest one day a week for ten weeks starting in January.  

Wick High School pupils get planting

Pupils from Wick High School have been undertaking a range of maintenance and environmental project work at Newtonhill Croft Woodland.   The youngsters meet two to three times a month and have undertaken path improvement works, bird box builds, wild flower meadow maintenance and much more.  

Peatland workshops prove hit at Science Festival - Peat Balls

Children from Bower and Castletown Primary schools in Caithness enjoyed a series of workshops organised by The Highland Council Planning and Infrastructures Countryside Rangers at the Caithness Science Festival last week.   The local rangers from Caithness and Sutherland provided a mix of workshops focusing on peat and the importance of the Flow Country.

Tackling Social Isolation - Funding Opportunity
