SNP Candidate wants to do the best for the locals of Landward Caithness
Ed Boyter, from Reay, is the Scottish National Party�s candidate for Landward Caithness in the up-and-coming by-election to be held on Thursday 28th November 2013. Ed, 39, is originally from Fife but made Caithness his home with his partner when they relocated to Murkle, near Castletown.

Having fireworks at home can be great fun, as long as they are used safely. Figures show more children rather than adults get hurt by fireworks.

Up to 18,000 tons to be thrown out by the end of the big day. Hundreds of thousands of pumpkins are to be thrown into Britain's bins by the end of the Hallowe'en festivities.

Ex Police Chief Bids To Be Caithness Landward Independent Councillor
Matthew Reiss recently retired as chief inspector of police in Highland and is still fully committed to his adopted county where he still lives and now intends to represent the people of Caithness as an Independent councillor if he can gain support from the people of the area. He has been stationed in Caithness several times over his career as he progressed up the promotion ladder.

Keiss Halloween Party

Cyclists urged to be safe, seen and know the Highway Code
Cyclists and motorists are being urged by The Highland Council and Police Scotland to consider cyclists� safety as the clocks change. This plea comes as a result of data recorded in and around central areas of Inverness1 which has seen an increase in cyclist accidents historically in the month of October.

51st Scottish Ploughing Championships 2013
Stanstill Farm in Caithness saw the start of the 51st Scottish Ploughing Championships. On what turned out to be a dry Saturday following heavy rain on Friday conditions seemed ideal for the competitions that went into full swing from the shire horses showing how it used to be done to the bigger modern ploughs and many in between.

Caithness Heart Support Group - Presentation 2
Caithness Heart Support Group made a double presentation of equipment at the Wick Medical Centre, recently. The second presentation which will be used jointly by both the Riverview and the Dr Pearson practices, was the latest Doppler machine which measures the circulation in limbs and, unlike the one currently employed, can be used without an initial, patient-rest period of 20 minutes and provide a series of readings immediately.
