High Life Highland's Countryside Ranger's gave members of the public an exciting opportunity to ‘dive in’ to the world of marine wildlife at the North Coast Visitor Centre recently.   The ‘Whale and Dolphin Watching’ presentation took place on Wednesday 15th November at 11am, and was well attended by the local Caithness community.

Wick's herring-fishing boom is considered to have been a time of great prosperity for the town - but those living in unsanitary conditions in the streets around the harbour faced a daily struggle with poverty, overcrowding and disease.   The hardships endured by families crammed "cheek by jowl" in the Lower Pulteneytown area have been highlighted by Caithness poet and playwright George Gunn in a new recording for Wick Voices, the oral history section of the Wick Society.

6 Caithness Groups Among Highland Organisations To Benefit From Community Regeneration Funding Towards Revenue Projects
A funding boost of nearly £1million of revenue investment is set to benefit rural areas across Highland.   The Highland Strategic Local Action Group who met during September, considered, and agreed funding for revenue projects submitted to the first round of the 2023/24 Community Regeneration Fund.

Caithness Groups Get Lottery Awards
A number of groups in Caithness were on a long list of Scottish awards from the lottery.   Caithness KLICS (SCIO) Medium Grants Scotland: Improving Lives £76,763 Highland The group will use the funding to offer a range of activities for young carers, including weekly group sessions and after school sessions to reduce stress and provide respite bringing some normality into their lives.

Caithness Voluntary Group Success With Loneliness Funding Award
Caithness Voluntary Group is one of 53 projects awarded a share of £3.2 million fund set up to tackle loneliness by Scottish Government.   Activities delivered by the organisations include community choirs, walking football, Men's Sheds and volunteering opportunities.
