Sìdh Chailleann Art, who put on the exhibition "Legends of Caithness" in Halkirk in July 2023, are offering a series of
art sessions and a mentorship to 10 residents of Caithness who would like to enter into arts education or employment
in 2024. The art sessions will be run by working artists Jackie Newton, Lindsey Gallacher, Ian Pearson, Eleanor Lee,
Katie Squires and members of the Scottish Storytelling Forum. There will be a 2-hour workshop with each artist each
month from October 2023 - July 2024. In these sessions, the Rising Artists will get hands-on experience of mediums
including painting, polymer, jewelry-making, felting, glass-blowing, print-making and creative writing from the artists in
their studios or other venues in Caithness. The working artists will also provide guidance following the in-studio
session.

The art sessions will be 2 hours long with individual follow-up from each artist. These sessions will take place on
Saturdays. There will be no material costs but you will have to travel to venues in Thurso and Wick. We will discuss
transport options during the application review.

The mentorship sessions will take place on Saturdays by zoom for group sessions, and at your convenience for one -
to-one sessions.

The most important part of the application is the goal you have in mind - the attendance to an arts training or
education course, or specific employment, by summer 2024.
Your application will be reviewed by an external panel of Caithness residents who will look at the merits of each
anonymized application form.
