NHS Highland, in collaboration with Connecting Carers, Befrienders Highland and others, is excited to be involved in The Highland Carers Roadshow. This is a series of free events offering unpaid carers the opportunity to meet face-to-face with the people who can help.

From 20 September to 5 October 2023, NHS Highland and a host of other organisations have come together to launch a series of free in-person events across the Highland region, with the aim to show local carers what support is available for them.

The Highland Carers Roadshow is an opportunity for those in the area with caring responsibilities to chat with and hear from NHS Highland Carer Support Services, as well as many other organisations that can provide help and support such as Connecting Carers, Befrienders Highland, Alzheimer Scotland and many more.

Leading the initiative for NHS Highland, Jennifer Campbell, Carer Services Development Officer, said: "We're on the road because we want to reach carers who are ‘off-radar'. In Highland, there are thousands of people of all ages supporting a neighbour, friend or relative, but many carers aren’t aware that there is any help available to them personally. There’s clearly a natural tendency to concentrate on the person being cared for before yourself. We want to offer support before anyone becomes overwhelmed. Sometimes small things can make a big difference."

Anyone is welcome to drop in to any of the events at any time, and is welcome to bring the person or people they care for. Professionals and volunteers are also encouraged to come along. Free refreshments will be provided on the day.
