SSE Renewables Backs Highland Projects With £1.5m In Response To Climate Emergency
SSE Renewables has awarded more than £1.5 million to 20 ‘transformational' projects across the Highlands. It comes in a bid to help communities respond to the climate emergency, with the projects ranging from decarbonising heat in community facilities in Golspie to the creation of active travel routes in Skye.

Thurso Community Development Trust Gets Share In £1.5 Million For Highland-wide Climate Movement To Reduce Waste
Community groups across the Highlands are coming together as part of a new climate movement to help reduce waste and tackle a throwaway culture. The Highland Community Waste Partnership, led by Keep Scotland Beautiful, is being made possible by a £1,498,568 award, announced today (Tue 25 January) by The National Lottery Community Fund.23/9/2020

Mapping Thurso - Asking the Community What Needs to Be Improved
Thurso Development Officer, Joan Lawrie has been running a series of community consultation since taking up post with Caithness Voluntary Group under the Scottish Government funded Aspiring Communities programme in January. Joan has been speaking to users of Ormlie Community Association, Caithness Citizen's Advice Bureau, Thurso Community Cafe and speaking to various groups existing in the town.

Thurso Community Fridge - You Can Help Give This Fund -raiser a wee push
We're looking to establish a Community Fridge in Thurso - but we need you help to do it! There are currently 32 Community Fridges across the UK and their numbers are growing. A Community Fridge is open to all and it's key aim is to minimise food waste in a community.

Opinions sought from Thurso Residents
Thurso Community Development Trust is continuing in its efforts to understand the needs of Thurso Residents while moving forward in identifying early projects for the Trust to complete for the development of the town. A successful public meeting was held earlier this month where round table discussions brought out many positive opinions of the town and needs for improvement.
