27th July 2022

The cost of living crisis is impacting on everyone with the real likelihood that it will get worse this winter with more price increases.

The Caithness Poverty Action Group have been working to see what the community can do to help the most vulnerable. A couple of updates that may be of interest to you and your members.

Access to school items
Thurso Development Trust are working with Caithness Poverty Action Group and Thurso Community Cafe to put on a back-to-school swap!

We want to help reduce waste by giving some pre-loved school items a new home, we know how quickly kids grow so keeping them in uniforms and school clothes is hard to keep up with - and expensive.

We'd love for you to drop off things like uniformed t-shirts and jumpers, plain back essentials like trousers, skirts, dresses, legging, tights etc. We'll also take clothes that can be used for PE, school bags, pencil cases, school shoes and anything else you think others could use at school. Open for nursery right through to high school. We ask that you bring items that are clean and in good condition, with no tears, stains, or buttons missing or broken zips.

Then come along to Thurso Community Cafe on Saturday 30th July between 2 pm and 5 pm to shop what we've got.

Everything will be free or for donation, there will be a maximum number of items you can take depending on how many kids it’s for, just to make sure that everyone who comes along can get something."
