Thurso Grows

9th May 2019

Thurso Grows is at the start of their fanatic new project in Thurso funded by the Climate Challenge Fund. I just wanted to send you an email to give you some information as what we are trying to achieve and how you may like to get involved.

We want to give you a brief summary of what we will be doing:

The project focuses on educating the community about climate change and reducing carbon emissions via encouraging local food production and food waste minimisation.

Much of the project will be based at the community garden in Ormlie.

Workshops, events and making the issues above high profile within the community.

Our aim is to get as much of the community involved as possible, so any support how every small would be very welcome. If you are interested in any of the following work shop please get in touch.

Lower Carbon food
Food growing
Food waste

We have an active facebook page with all the up to date events and information

Weekly we have a volunteer session at the garden from 11.00am to 1pm on a Saturday where people can get involved in growing their own food, and we will be holding a "climate conversation" on 1/6/19 at 3pm at the Youth club, Old Mill, Millbank Rd, Thurso KW148PS.

We also want to open the garden up to groups/ schools ect, to book sessions in the garden for people to get involved in the growing of food and other workshops. The garden will be under construction next week with workshops, beds, Polly grip construction, and the outdoor kitchen to follow. We are also happy to come to you to give workshops ect if getting to the garden will be unacheivable.

Many thanks

Ann Brock
