Opinions sought from Thurso Residents

Thurso Community Development Trust is continuing in its efforts to understand the needs of Thurso Residents while moving forward in identifying early projects for the Trust to complete for the development of the town.

A successful public meeting was held earlier this month where round table discussions brought out many positive opinions of the town and needs for improvement. Marion O'Brien of the steering group leading the Trust stated, "It was wonderful to see so many people turn out and give views on Thurso a lot of discussion and positive ways forward were suggested, it is clear that many people share similar view points on what we need to do in terms of the tourism sector in particular and playing up to our strengths as a town rich in heritage and attractive spaces but not often celebrated."

The process of community consultation goes on for TCDT with the survey instigated at the public meeting now being available for online completion. Tracey Sparling who has taken up the position of Chair for TCDT explained, "It is really important for us to capture the views of the town, this is ground up community development which we are trying to encourage and knowing the views of people living in Thurso will form our action plan moving forwards.

There are so many views out there so please Thurso people don't be shy and just spend 15 minutes completing the survey, tell us what you think and feel about Thurso. This is your town and we are looking to develop it to match your needs."

The survey is open to all residents of Thurso living within the Thurso Primary School catchment areas which are TCDT's area of development.

The Trust realised that many people from out with this area hold views about the town as it is a central hub for them therefore a further survey will be available in a few weeks to give them a chance to air their views.
