Newsletter Award For Friends of the Far North Line
10th November 2017
MSP praises campaign group for award.
The honorary vice-president of Friends of the Far North line has lodged a motion in the Scottish Parliament praising the campaign group for winning a top award.
Highlands and Islands Labour MSP, Rhoda Grant, lodged the motion after hearing that the group and its newsletter editor, Ian Budd, had been awarded the Best Newsletter Gold Award.
The accolade was presented by Railfuture, the UK's leading independent organisation campaigning for better rail services for passengers and freight and it was handed over by Christian Wolmar, railway journalist and President of Railfuture.
"The newsletter, the Far North Express, regularly drops through our office letterbox and it's packed with information about the Far North Line, highlighting interesting history, facts and statistics as well as readers' complaints and observations," said Mrs Grant.
"The quality of the publication is not only a testament to the editor but to all those who contribute articles and photos and make it such an interesting read ."I've learnt a lot by reading the newsletter and I am delighted for Friends of the Far North Line convener, Mike Lunan, and all members of the campaign team who continue to keep up the pressure to bring improvements in infrastructure, journey time and services on the railway lines connecting through Inverness."
