51st Scottish Ploughing Championships 2013

Stanstill Farm in Caithness saw the start of the 51st Scottish Ploughing Championships.
On what turned out to be a dry Saturday following heavy rain on Friday conditions seemed ideal for the competitions that went into full swing from the shire horses showing how it used to be done to the bigger modern ploughs and many in between.
With 150 competitors from all over Scotland out to show who was the best and very high visitor numbers well catered for across several large fields.
Transport was provided for those not wishing to walk around the various fields.
Wick and Thurso hotels and other accommodation has been in high demand with tickets for the Saturday night dance at the Weigh Inn over subscribed 3 times.
Finals, vintage tractor and under 26 age group competitions take place on Sunday 27th October starting again at 9.30am
