Thurso British Legion Hunt For Rolls Of Honour From First World War
5th October 2013
Do you have a roll of honour like this or have you seen one lately?
Thurso Branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland is looking to make up a set for the county of Caithness. They have three and they believe they need a further three to complete the roll. They are looking in particular for those marked Caithness-shire with the identifier A, E or F. There may even be more in the set.
The plan is to have them framed and put on display during the one hundredth anniversary commemoration of the Great War. If you would not wish to part with yours or give it on long term loan, the Legion would be prepared to make a good quality copy of it.
They would love to hear from anyone who has one. Either telephone the Thurso Clubrooms 01847 893377 or email mackay906[AT]btinternet.com.
To get a closer look at the names go to the Photo Gallery link top left of this article. You can also right click on each image and then open in a new tab or window for an even larger image to assist in reading the names. If we get a clearer image later we will replace it and add any copies of other rolls if they become available so that anyone not in the county may inspect them. If you can provide images of any of the scrolls please email them to bill[AT]caithness.org
