Funding OpportunityLega - cy 2014 Active Places Fund

29th September 2013

Sport Scotland has announced that the next application deadline for its ‘Legacy 2014 Active Place Fund’ is the 1st February 2014. The aim of the fund is to encourage more people to become active and take part in sport. The ‘Legacy 2014 Active Place Fund’ has been established to provide funding to ‘capital projects which create or improve places in local communities where people can go to get active’. Grants between £10,000 and £100,000 are available for a very wide range of community-led projects such as new bike or skate parks, outdoor adventure facilities, walking routes, or new projects within school estates. In 2014 Scotland will host the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow – the biggest multi-sports event the country has ever hosted.
The Scottish Government is committed to ensuring the Games will deliver a positive and lasting legacy for Scotland. Schools can apply for funding for the following types of projects:

Projects which increase the range of physical activity & sporting activities available within a school & community use site
Facilities supporting activities run by Active Schools or Active Girls
Grounds for Learning Supported Projects
New outdoor learning spaces for physical education which allow community use
Major items of sports equipment to allow new activities to take place.
