New Wick Council Offices - Work Begins
13th April 2013
The rebuilding of Wick Council Offices has begun with safety fencing going up all round. It wil be almost 18 months before staff move back to the new offices having left in January 2013 to relocate temporarily to Girnigoe street.
The Council Offices form the frontage to the west side of Market Square and the adjoining section of the High Street. The North elevation adjacent to High Street is curved in profile to follow the line of the Street, this curved building is known as the Stafford Place building. Stafford Place is bow fronted, constructed of Caithness sandstone .
The Stafford Place bow fronted building will remain and be refurished and the newer parts both in the front and back wil lbe demolished and new buildins built on the site. This new photo gallery will have more photos added as work progresses until the work is completed so you can all see the progress.
