Caithness Young Farmers Clubs Gain Genersous Donations
12th January 2013
THE most northerly YFC on mainland Britain has been given a funding boost from Aberdeen and Northern Marts (ANM).
Forss, Halkirk and Bower YFCs in Caithness each received 820, which was raised at the recent 20th anniversary sale held at the Caithness Livestock Centre at Quoybrae.
ANM marked the occasion by donating a 26-month-old British Blue cross heifer, bred by Iain Gunn, Murza, Bower, and giving the sale proceeds to the three clubs.
The 584kg animal was sold for 2,300 to well-known hotelier Murray Lamont of Mackays Hotel in Wick for diners at his Number One restaurant. Donations brought the final total up to 2,460.
Club representatives were presented their cheques at Mackays Hotel by John Bremner, manager of the Caithness Livestock Centre.
