Karting Day Success For Thurso Rotary
9th September 2012
A successful karting day was held by Thurso Rotary Club when entrants from all ages brought their home-made karts to try out the downhill run at North Highland College. It seemed a fitting place to get the art of kart building going again as the run ended up at the new Engineering, Technology and Energy centre opened officially just over week ago by first minister Alex Salmond.
Going by the many designs and sizes of karts there is no shortage of mechanical and engineering ideas around in Thurso. All went well with the exception of one spill by a girl scout from Wick who was daring to go exceptionally fast and lost control on the bends. Despite her turning over she escaped unhurt. Perhaps budding engineers around the county should be making plans to enter next year.
