Caithness Horizons takes part in Doors Open Day 2018

15th September 2018

On 15th September 2018, Caithness Horizons are taking part in the annual Doors Open Day Campaign coordinated nationally by the Scottish Civic Trust. This wonderful event allows people living and visiting Scotland to explore hundreds of fascinating buildings across our country for FREE on weekends throughout September.

For one day only between 10am and 5pm, visitors can enjoy our museum displays for free! There's plenty to see from Pictish Stones, Dounreay displays to The Flow Country and the Vikings. Visitors can even join a guided tour of the museum by one of our lovely volunteers - just come along at 11:30 or 1:30 to take part!

Over in our Education Room, we are hosting a small craft market featuring six local makers selling everything from soap, jewellery and even goats cheese! The market is open from 10am - 3pm. And finally, in our Cafe we are offering a free hot drink of your choice with every purchase of a slice of our lovely homemade cake.

Other local heritage sites taking part across the Caithness and Sutherland Weekend include Church of St John the Evangelist, Old St Peter's Kirk, St Peter & the Holy Rood Episcopal Church and Wick Heritage Museum.
