WASPI Continues The State Pension Fight For Women - Check This Out

6th February 2017

The Caithness WASPI group are keen to reach out to more 1950s women who are unsure of when they will get their State Pension and how much they will receive. They also want to update people on what's happening with the WASPI campaign which is very exciting! WASPI have raised over £100K to appoint top London law firm Bindmans to help challenge the Government on this important issue. There will be a mass demonstration in London on Wednesday 8th March which is also International Women's Day and there will be representation from Caithness and Sutherland WASPIs.

Local WASPI Co-ordinators Aileen and Lorna have organised meetings on Monday 13th February 2017 at 6.30 pm in the Pentland Hotel, Thurso and Thursday 16th February 2017 at 6.30 pm in the Norseman Hotel, Wick.

There is also going to be 1 - 1 support at Wick and Thurso Citizens Advice Bureau on Friday 10th February 2017 between 10.00 am - 4 pm for those women who have yet to complete their Stage 1 and 2 letters to the DWP (this is key to the legal process). Aileen and Lorna will be on hand to help, along with CAB staff and volunteers.

Women are encouraged to come along and find out when they will receive their State Pension and get a pension forecast. There will also be an opportunity for women born in the 1950s to complete their Stage 1 and Stage 2 letters to the DWP as part of WASPI's legal challenge. Staff and volunteers will be on hand to guide people through the process. It's also an excellent opportunity to find out more about the WASPI campaign.
