CHAT Stall At Wick Fun Day Raises Great Amount For Fighting Fund

CHAT's treasurer has sent out a message about today's Funday with regard to the stalls funds -
"Well done to everyone involved in the fundraising stall in the Market Square today, the total raised was £672.87 which is really great. The total is for everything - raffle, donations, etc it includes the £40 that Bill received as donations."

CHAT chairman Bill Fernie paid tribute to a great and dedicated group who are pulling out all the stops in their efforts to oppose NHS Highland plans to downgrade maternity services at Caithness General and he said, Once again people in Caithness have shown their generosity and that they are prepared to help ensure that funds are not a problem in taking the campaign forward. I thank everyone who bought a cake or piece of tablet, booked hoodie or took part in the raffle. To the ladies who were there over the day - well done and great job considering you all have to juggle families at the same time.

Thanks to everyone who has so far volunteered to join the bus trip to Inverness on Tuesday.

Funds have been coming in from around the county but CHAT has not got great amounts as already expenses are mounting up - such as hire of Assembly Rooms for Friday night - £700 and bus hire £600 for next Tuesday. Currently funds are The total funds held by CHAT are now £1,963.25. The two expenses mentioned are still to be paid but we have paid for range of other things already. CHAT fund raiser sub group are great bunch of mothers and are very able and if anyone would like to contribute send any amount any of the group to be passed to our treasurer.

Our predecessor group North Action Group had money coming in throughout a Two year campaign and ended up donating a large amount to Friends of Caithness General so we are sure any necessary expenses can be met.

Mikie Aitken , Quality Control Inspector for Subsea7 Wester Site ,recently won a thousand pounds for a safety award while working on the Equinor Snorre project to be given to a charity of his choice.   He chose to donate to Caithness Health Action Team 100mile helper kits which are given to Caithness General Hospital , Community Maternity Unit who give the kits to local women that have to be quickly transferred to Raigmore maternity hospital in an emergency situation.

New Hospital At Aviemore Finally Goes To Planning Stage But How Long Will Caithness Redesign Take?
With respect to the new hospital at Aviemore Dr Boyd Peters said "We have been on this journey since 2012 and the land purchase is a significant step towards securing much needed modern healthcare facilities for the population of Badenoch and Strathspey" After seven years it finally reaches the planning stage so that must mean yet another two or even three years until its on the ground and working.   In Caithness redesign of health services has been going on and on for several years and recently we have the early stages of a "hub" idea being promoted.

MSP raises the case of Caithness twins' mother and why air ambulance wasn’t initially called
Highlands and Islands Labour MSP Rhoda Grant has raised with the First Minister why the air ambulance was not initially called when a Caithness mother went into labour at 30 weeks with twins.   At First Minister's Questions today, Mrs Grant told Nicola Sturgeon the woman had bravely shared her experience of giving birth under the current maternity provisions in Caithness.
