New closing date for local fund

18th November 2015

The Tannach and District Community Fund is changing its deadlines in response to community feedback. The next deadline will be 31 December 2015 and then 30 June 2016.

The new dates move the Tannach and District Community Fund deadlines to alternate with the E.ON Camster Community Fund and will give the community the option of applying to one of the Funds every 3 months rather than every six months as has previously been the case.

Carol Elliot, one of Foundation Scotlands local representatives, said the new deadline means groups have the opportunity to apply to the fund before 2016. The next deadline is in just over 5 weeks at the end of December which we appreciate is during a busy time of year for volunteers. However, the panel felt it was better to move the first date forward rather than delay the first date until June, she said.

The Fund has already made an impact on the local community, preserving its heritage, encouraging more sustainable energy use and making it a vibrant place to live over its first two years of operation. The panel wanted to ensure the continued success of the Fund and felt moving the deadlines makes it even more accessible and accountable to the community.

The Tannach and District Fund is provided by Wathegar Wind Farm LLP which is owned by Whirlwind Renewables and FIM Windfarms 2 LP (a partnership managed by FIM Services Ltd), who together built Wathegar Wind Farm.

Foundation Scotland was appointed by the wind farm operator and the community to administer the Community Fund. The Fund supports community groups and charities working in the Tannach and District Community Council area that provide activities which promote community spirit and bring people together, enhance quality of life and promote peoples wellbeing and foster a vibrant, sustainable community.
