Waverley Care is Scotland's HIV and Hepatitis C charity. They will be visiting Wick on 25 September offering FREE HIV tests with results in 20 minutes. The test itself is a finger prick test and it gives an accurate result in 20 minutes. Testing is very discreet and confidential and if anyone would like to book an appointment they should call Rory or Rachel on 01463 711585 or 07860 703577.

The Waverley Care web site is great source of information and contacts with how to get support for individuals and families.

The web site describes them -

"We are a community of diverse and inspiring people united by the same goal - to make a positive difference in the lives of people affected by HIV or Hepatitis C in Scotland.

No matter who we work with, we strive to make sure that every person we meet feels respected and encouraged. In fact, the four principles that reflect what we do -respect, believe, build and inspire- all point back to the people-orientated nature of our work. While we offer dozens of services, it's always about people.

In broader terms, our work is focused on prevention, education, testing and support. Throughout Scotland we're reducing new HIV and Hepatitis C infections, getting people diagnosed and supporting those affected in whatever ways they need. We're also busy challenging stigma.

In all that we do, we never give up on people, but are always there to walk alongside anyone affected by HIV or Hepatitis C.

If you think you may have been at risk of contracting HIV or Hepatitis C you may be considering an HIV or Hepatitis C test.

Getting a test is quick, easy and confidential, with some tests offering results as fast as within 20 minutes. A test can give you piece of mind and, if positive, access to treatment to help you lead a long and healthy life. Waverley Care offers HIV testing services, as do other HIV and sexual health charities, GP surgeries and sexual health clinics. HIV home-test kits are also now available in the UK.

If you are thinking about getting tested, give us a call and we'll be happy to talk to you in more detail about how it works, as well as answer any questions or concerns you might have.

You can find our more information on how HIV and Hepatitis are passed between people on our HIV infection and Hepatitis C infection pages."
