Joint fire and police investigation to take place after fire at a property in Thurso

29 year-old man reported following a fire at a flat in Thurso
Following reports of a fire at a flat on Bayview Terrace, Thurso on Tuesday 04 November 2014, a 29 year-old man was taken to Caithness General Hospital where it was ascertained that he had suffered no long term injuries as a result of the incident.

As part of an ongoing investigation, officers can confirm that the 29 year-old man has subsequently been reported in connection with the incident. He will appear at Wick Sheriff Court from police custody this afternoon (Wednesday 05 November 2014).

At about 04:57 hours this morning (Tuesday 04 November 2014), police in Thurso received a report of a fire within a flat on Bayview Terrace.

Emergency services attended at the scene and the fire was gained under control by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

A man in his twenties was taken to Caithness General Hospital for observations.

The fire is currently being treated as unexplained and will be subject to a joint fire and police investigation.
