Body found in the Alness area identified as missing Wakefield man Mark Burgess
Police Scotland can confirm that a body recovered from the Alness area on Monday 20 October 2014 at around 1800 hours has been identified as that of Mark Burgess (58) who had previously been reported missing from the Wakefield area.

Next of kin have been informed and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

There are no suspicious circumstances.

Dingwall and Wester Ross Area Inspector Paul Daley said:

"Police Scotland would like to thank members of the public for their assistance with efforts to trace Mark. Our thoughts are with Mark's family and we would ask the media to respect their request to grieve in private at this difficult time."

Police Scotland are continuing their efforts to locate missing person Mark Burgess, who is missing from the Wakefield area since Wednesday 15th October 2014.

Mark Burgess, 58, is thought to have travelled to Scotland in a grey coloured Toyota Yaris with the vehicle registration YC13 ZJV and is known to have been in the Inverness area on Friday 17th October 2014, and in Caithness over the weekend, with a trip to John O'Groats thought to have been planned.

He is described as male white, 5'8" tall, thick set with sandy coloured hair.

Detective Inspector Steven Greenbank of Wakefield CID, said:"We are very concerned for Mark's well-being and I would appeal to him or anyone who sees him to contact police on 101 as soon as possible."

"We know that he was north of Inverness on Friday 17th October 2014 so are particularly appealing to anyone in that area to be on the look out for him."

Inspector Paul Daley of Police Scotland Highland and Islands division added:"We understand Mark travelled to the Caithness area over the weekend and may still be in the Highlands. We would urge anyone who spotted Mark or his vehicle over the weekend or today to contact Police on 101"
