Aberdeenshire fundraiser raises vital money for the Caithness MS Society

5th September 2014

A keen fundraiser from Portlethen in Aberdeenshire whose brother has multiple sclerosis (MS) is to take on the challenge of running her first half marathon to raise money for the Caithness Branch of the MS Society.

Debbie Mackay originally from Thurso, will run in the Crathes Half Marathon on Saturday 13th September. She is aiming to raise in excess of £200.

Debbie's brother who lives in Thurso, has suffered from MS for many years. Debbie was keen to support the Caithness Branch of the MS Society, who as well as providing support and information, run Therapy Groups in Wick and Thurso.

More than 100,000 people in the UK are living with MS. Most people are diagnosed in their 20s and 30s. MS is unpredictable, one day you can be fine, the next you might lose your sight or be unable to move.

Debbie has already completed 10k races for the MS Society and frequent Cake Breaks, raising funds at her local school.
