If you’re leaving school this year, planning a career change or would like to retrain, North Highland College UHI has a range of new courses to kick start your career.

The North Highland College UHI is continually seeking to improve their range of courses and levels and modes of study. This year, the college is excited to announce even more new courses with excellent progression routes to give you the best learning journey and opportunities right on your doorstep.

From entry level courses to Honours Degrees and even PHD level, the College welcomes thousands of young people and adult students onto its courses each year. New courses on offer from September 2014 are:
Higher Computing, Business Management, and Administration, Business and Accounting Principles, Computing and Digital Technology, Office Information Management, NQ Sport Fitness and Health, NC Sport Fishing and Conservation, NC Sound Production, PDA Brief Intervention for Substance Misuse (Jan 2015), PDA Understanding and Supporting Individuals with Dyslexia in Learning and Workplace Settings, HND Computer Science, BA Equine Business Management, BA (Hons) Tourism & Hospitality Management, BA (Hons) Sport Management, BA (Hons) Scottish History and Scottish Cultural Studies

The North Highland College is one of the 13 academic partners which make up the University of the Highlands and Islands, and it is through this partnership that the college can offer such a variety of Higher Education courses in the local community. An example of the opportunities that this presents is the exciting, new HND Computer Science course. It has been designed to meet the growing needs of IT and computing related sectors, giving you an up-to-date, recognised qualification within the context of an ever-changing employment market.

A new undergraduate joint degree has also just been validated through the college’s partnership with UHI, which is the BA (Hons) Scottish History and Scottish Cultural Studies and has the cultural identity of the Highlands and Islands and its communities at its heart.

The North Highland College UHI offers more than forty degrees, providing endless learning opportunities in the Highlands without the expense of having to move away to university.

The college also boasts a new range of business, accounting, computing and administration certificate courses which are locally devised programmes approved by the SQA. These courses have been specifically designed to both aid progression to HNC level study and to prepare students for employment in relevant posts within these sectors. The advantage of studying these certificate courses (SCQF level 5) is that they incorporate SQA Highers (Business and Management, Computing and Administration) whilst also providing the opportunity to secure a work placement and developing enterprise and employability skills.
