New Opportunities for SVQ Qualifications In Wick

Pulteneytown People’s Project are offering a unique opportunity for people who would like to train to work in the following fields;

Childcare
Health and Social Care
Business Administration

PPP have secured funding from the Highland Councils Deprived Area Fund to deliver Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQ’s). These opportunities are open to anyone over the age of 16 whether they are employed or unemployed. PPP are able to work around people who have part time jobs by fitting work placements around their days off. Please note that the Business Administration SVQ is only offered at level 3 and for people aged 25 and over. Successful applicants will have to commit to a study day and up to two days a week work placement which will last for one year.

The closing date for applications is Monday 18th March. Applicants should write an A4 page detailing their reasons for wanting to undertake an SVQ in their chosen field and why they would be a suitable candidate. The following SVQ’s will be delivered;

SVQ Children’s Care, Learning and Development Level 3

This is a nationally recognised award accredited by the Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA) and is suitable for those wishing to work as practitioners in early education and childcare.

In the Children’s Care, Learning and Development SVQ, candidates are expected to be involved in meeting the care, support and learning needs of children and contributing to the development and quality assurance and informal learning activities.

To achieve the level 3 SVQ candidates must achieve 9 units in total – 5 Mandatory Units and 4 Optional Units.

Candidates will be required to attend PPP three days each week with one day being classroom based and two days on work placement.

SVQ Children’s Care, Learning and Development Level 2

This is a nationally recognised award accredited by the Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA) and is suitable for those wishing to work as support workers who have delegated responsibility for providing care and support to children.

In the Children’s Care, Learning and Development SVQ level 2, candidates are expected to be involved in practical hands on activities with children.

To achieve the level 2 SVQ candidates must achieve 7 units in total – 6 Mandatory Units and 1 Optional Unit.

Candidates will be required to attend PPP two days each week with one day being classroom based and one on work placement.--

SVQ HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE (ADULTS) LEVEL 3

This is a nationally recognised award accredited by the Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA) and is suitable for those wishing to work as practitioners in Care Homes or Support Work at practitioner level.

To achieve the SVQ level 3, candidates are required to complete 8 Units in total - 4 Mandatory Units, and 4 Optional Units from the 'specific' or 'generic' list.

Candidates must be willing to commit to one days training and 1-2 days work placement each week. To achieve the Level 3 SVQ the candidates will be involved with practical as well as classroom based work.

SVQ HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE (ADULTS) LEVEL 2
This is a nationally recognised award accredited by the Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA) and is suitable for those wishing to work as practitioners in Care Homes or Support Work at support worker / assistant level.

To achieve the SVQ level 2, candidates are required to complete 6 Units in total - 2 Core Units, two Optional Units and the two remaining Units to be taken from either the Core or the Optional sections.

Candidates must be willing to commit to one day training and 1-2 days work experience each week. To achieve the Level 3 SVQ the candidates will be involved with practical as well as classroom based work.

SVQ Business and Administration Level 3 (over 25 years of age only)

This is a nationally recognised award accredited by the Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA) and is suitable for those wishing to work in an office environment.

For level 3, candidates must achieve 8 Units in total, 3 mandatory Units and 5 optional Units.
Candidates will be required to attend PPP two days each week with a half day classroom based and one and a half days on work placement.
