NUFFIELD FOUNDATION - RESEARCH AND INNOVATION GRANTS
The Nuffield Foundation is inviting applications through its Research and Innovation Grants programme. The Foundation supports charitable and non-profit organisations with creative ideas to identify change or interventions which will have a practical impact for researchers, policy makers, and practitioners. There are currently four grant programmes that support research and innovation for beneficial social change. These are Law in Social Society; Education; Children and Families; and Open Door which is for projects that advance social well being, but lie outside the Foundation's main programme areas. Grants are mainly for research (usually carried out in universities or independent research institutes) but are also made for practical developments or innovation (often in voluntary sector organisations). Grants normally range between £5,000 and £150,000. The next deadline for submitting outline applications is the 15th March 2013

COMMONWEALTH FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES NEW GRANTS PROGRAMME
The Commonwealth Foundation has announced a new fund to promote good government governance. The fund which will open on the 3rd December 2012 will provide grants of up to £30,000 per year (for up to three years) to Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to promote greater understanding of accountable governance and supporting models of good practice. To be eligible, applicants need to be registered CSOs from a Commonwealth Foundation member country. The closing date for applications will be the 10th January 2013

J PAUL GETTY JR CHARITABLE TRUST
The Trustees of the J Paul Getty Jr Charitable Trust have announced that it is their intentions to wind down the Trust over the next three years. As one of the largest charitable Trusts within the UK, the Trust awarded grants of £11.5 million last year. Grants of up to £250,000 are available for projects that aim to reduce re-offending; that improve the prospects of 14 - 19 year olds, especially those at risk of social exclusion; that integrate diverse communities; projects that make a lsting impact on the lives of people with substance misuse problems; and projects helping people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The T rust also makes grants for preserving heritage and sustaining the arts. The final closing date for applications will be the 18th January 2013

TESCO CHARITY COMMUNITY AWARDS
The Tesco Charity Community Awards for grants for children's welfare and/or children's educations (including special needs schools) will re-open for applications on the 1st December 2012. Through the Awards, one-off donations of between £500 and £4,000 are available to local projects that support children and their education and welfare. Previous projects supported have included sensory garden or room projects; outdoor classrooms; breakfast and after school clubs; holiday play-schemes; and part funding to purchase minibuses. The closing date for applications will be the 31st January 2013. The Tesco Charity Trust has been in existence since 1987 and aims to provide approximately £600,000 in grants each year. In addition the Trust also provides grants to groups working with and supporting elderly people and/or adults and children with disabilities. This funding stream is due to re-open for applications on the 1st February 2013 with an application deadline of the 31st March 2013. The Tesco Charity Trust Trustees also consider grant applications at their tri-annual meetings. These grants range between £4,000 and £25,000 and are to support local, national or international projects in areas where Tesco operate

CREATIVE ENTERPRISE FUND FOR YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS
Young people (aged 15 - 22) in Scotland that wish to develop their artistic talents and fulfill their ambitions within the creative industries have the opportunity to get support through a new Creative Enterprise Fund. The Creative Enterprise Fund can award young people up to £200 on an individual basis and £750 for groups of three or more. It aims to encourage enterprising and innovative ideas and assist young people to become creative leaders. Applications are now open and young people can download an application form from the Young Scot Extra website. The next closing date for applications is the 3rd January 2013. HEALTHY HEARTS GRANTS
Heart Research UK has announced that the next funding round of its healthy heart grants will open in January 2013. Heart Research UK Healthy Heart Grants support innovative projects designed to promote heart health and to prevent or reduce the risks of heart disease in specific groups or communities. Grants of up to £10,000 are available to community groups, voluntary organisations and researchers who are spreading the healthy heart message. The types of projects supported in the past have included; the Foresight Project in Grimsby which encourages visually impaired people to take regular exercise using tandem bicycles; the Ross-shire Bravehearts project in Inverness which educates adults with learning difficulties about heart health so they can take part in physical activities; and Superleague team, Wakefield Wildcats, which uses star rugby players to educate children about heart health. There are two applications rounds per year. Applications are only accepted during January and February for the May round of grants and July and August for grants awarded in November, each year

FUNDING FOR FINANCIAL LITERACY PROJECTS
The MSE Charity has announced that its grants programme will re-open for applications on the 1st January 2013. The MSE Charity provides grants to constituted community based groups (including schools) to help fight financial and consumer illiteracy and to educate and inform adults and children about consumer and debt issues. Under the programme, grants of up to £5,000 are available for group projects such as self-help groups, schools, workshops and other innovative schemes that seek to educate people about money, debt and consumer issues. Individuals over the age of 18 can apply for a grant of up to £500 to help pay towards a recognised and approved course that will help improve their ability to budget and manage their finances. The grant can be used to pay for financial education course fees and other associated expenses. Groups that have been supported in the past include Helping Hands for Refugees; Torbay Advice Network; The Holy Catholic School; and Asperger East Anglia. The programme will close once 40 completed applications that meet the criteria have been submitted

VINSPIRED CASHPOINT
vInspired Cashpoint is offering funding of up to £500 to young people (14 - 25 year olds) who want to set up a local project to help their community. To be eligible for funding, the project should be of benefit to the community where the young people live, or where they spend most of their time, or a group of people that they would like to help. The project should be a new idea or something that applicants have tried before but would like to do differently. Grants need to be used within two months of the project start date and should create a least two more volunteering opportunities for 14-25 year olds (in addition to the applicant). Applications can be submitted at any time
