A new local radio service comes to Lochbroom

23rd November 2012

The long-established Lochbroom FM radio station based in Ullapool has linked up with Gairloch-based Two Lochs Radio to provide a new local radio service for the area. At the same time Lochbroom FM will continue to develop an online Internet-only radio service from its Ullapool studio. The Two Lochs Radio service is also available online and through mobile phone apps.

Lochbroom FM Chairman Fran Harrison says: “In order to provide the local radio service we feel the community needs during the winter months we are linking with Two Loch Radio to share their broadcasts. This means listeners in the Ullapool and Coigach area will be able to tune in to 102.2 or 96.8 FM and hear local news, weather and road conditions as well as all the other programmes produced by Two Lochs Radio. "

Alex Gray Chairman of Two Lochs Radio said “ We are very pleased to be working with our neighbouring community radio station , Lochbroom FM, to develop the best local radio service that we can for the residents, visitors and businesses across Wester Ross.” Alex added that he would be delighted to hear from listeners with any comments or ideas for future programmes and developments.

Two Lochs Radio is also celebrating its ninth anniversary of providing a community-based radio service to the Gairloch and Loch Ewe areas of Wester Ross. The station is a not-for-profit body supported by programme sponsorship, advertising, donations and local fundraising events. It is currently working on a major development project supported by Highland Leader 2007-2013 and Highlands & Islands Enterprise to enhance its coverage of other parts of Wester Ross, including the Torridon and Achnasheen areas.

Live details of the Two Lochs Radio schedule are on its website www.2LR.co.uk and details of the Lochbroom Internet radio service are at www.lochbroomfm.com. The Two Lochs Radio programmes are also available live online and on smartphones through mobile radio apps.
