Caithness Voluntary Group have just published the following opportunities in their latest newsletter.   Caithness and North Sutherland Fund The CNSFund was established by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, DSRL and Dounreay Stakeholder Group to distribute a £4m funding package to community organisations for projects that will increase the attractiveness of Caithness and North Sutherland as a place to live, work and invest.

Patients can wait up to a year or more for knee replacements at NHS Highland
NHS Highland patients can wait for a year or more for a knee replacement, according to figures released to Labour MSP David Stewart under Freedom of Information.   Mr Stewart, who represents the Highlands and Islands and is Scottish Labour's Shadow Health Minister, asked the health authority for the figures after two separate constituents complained that they were facing a wait of up to a year or more to get an operation.

National Churches Trust - Foundation Grants
For the final round of 2019 (deadline 26 September) they will accept applications for works costing up to £20,000 excluding VAT, and will offer grants of up to 50% of project costs, not exceeding £10,000.   The Foundation Grant Programme is a small grants programme for maintenance to listed and unlisted Christian churches, chapels and meeting houses.

Transport Scotland's Low Carbon Travel and Transport Challenge Fund is now open for Round 3 applications.  Summary: Transport Scotland's Low Carbon Travel and Transport Challenge Fund is an opportunity for public, community and third sector organisations to apply for funding under the European Regional Development Fund 2014-2020 Programme to facilitate the delivery of active travel and low carbon transport hubs.

Spotted by crofters Stephen and Susan Cox on Thursday 25th July 2019 was a rare visitor to Roster in Caithness.   "A pink starling aka the Rosy Coloured Starling is staying on our croft." "We think it was blown in on the storm earlier in the week from the Western Isles where some were sighted last weekend."
